Thank You, Lost
May 24th, 2010 by Samodean

Thank you, JJ Abrams, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof for writing a show with a vision, for not assuming your audience is too dim to follow a complex story.

Thank you, ABC for giving a show like Lost a chance. With its huge budget and crazy ideas, no TV exec in their right mind would green-light this show.

Thank you, Matthew Fox, Terry O’Quinn and co. for bringing us one of the most lovable, relatable casts in television history.

Thank you, Michael Emerson for giving life to one of the greatest villains ever.

Thank you again, ABC for giving fans what they want most, an ending. Too many serialized shows end without a satisfying conclusion. Your decision to set an end date for Lost ensured the writers could see their story through.

Most of all, thank you, America (and others) for watching. It takes great dedication to stick with a complex serialized series from start to finish. Some were lost along the way, but many stayed the course.

With the economics of television the way they are now, we will likely never see a show like Lost again. If you tried the show and it’s not your thing, that’s fine. If you’ve never even thought about watching it, give it a try. Lost tells one of the best stories American TV has ever seen, and possibly will ever see again.

See you in another life brother.

    Thanks for everything!

Lost is the only serialized television show I have ever watched from beginning to end. The show has touched me in a way that is difficult to describe. Sometimes, when I am having a bad day, or something terribly wrong happens, I think of Lost and its characters. I think of Jack and how he felt the weight of the world on his shoulders. I think of Sawyer and his troubled past. I think of the near-selfless acts of Locke, and the struggles of Kate. And even though none of these characters actually exist, they have affected me in ways that not many existing individuals can or are able to. Lost and the passengers of flight 815 will always hold a place withing my heart, and their journey is something I will think about for many years to come. All I can really say is “Thank you”. Lost found me, and I am forever grateful.
