Massive Nerd Presents: 100 Comics to Read Before you Die

A while back, fellow nerd Tart posted a list of 100 books the BBC thinks everyone should read. Being as awesome as I am, I had to nerd the idea up a bit.

Well, a lot, actually.

So, Monday through Friday, for the next two weeks, I’ll be bringing you my list of 100 comics I think everyone should read. The list is presented in (mostly) chronological order, so it’s truly a list, not a ranking. Some entries on the list are single issues, while others are collections of issues, telling one storyline. Wherever possible, I have included Amazon links to the collected volumes.

I tried my best to separate “favorites” from essentials. No matter how much I love Iron Fist or Moon Knight, I was unable to find a story of theirs to include. Conversely, I included some stories that I, quite frankly, didn’t like. That doesn’t mean they’re not worth reading, and many others enjoyed them. I’ve also left out most of the famous origin stories. Otherwise, that would be half the list.

In the end, the goal of this project, much like the original BBC list, is to encourage discussion. It is by no means the final word on the subject.
